It offers a variety of tourist attractions, from pristine beaches to historic and religious sites and lush landscapes. If you are a French citizen wishing to travel to Sri Lanka, you must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before your departure. This document replaces the old visa and simplifies procedures for visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do you need an ETA?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yes, ETA is compulsory for all French citizens<\/strong> wishing to visit Sri Lanka, whatever the purpose or duration of their stay. There is no visa exemption for French nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of ETA available<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sri Lankan authorities offer three types of ETA for short stays:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ETA Tourism \/ Family :<\/strong> for leisure trips, holidays, family or friendly visits, medical treatment, yoga retreats and participation in sporting events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ETA Affaires :<\/strong> for business travel, such as attending meetings, negotiations, conferences, training courses or professional events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ETA Transit :<\/strong> for short stays of less than 48 hours during a stopover in Sri Lanka.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ETA application procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for an ETA entirely online via the Sri Lanka Immigration Department website. You can also use a specialist visa agency, which can simplify the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are the steps to follow to apply for an ETA online:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Gather the required documents:<\/strong> You will need a copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months after your return date), a copy of your flight ticket or reservation, and to answer a few questions about your stay in Sri Lanka.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fill in the online application form:<\/strong> Make sure you provide accurate and complete information. You will need to provide details such as your personal details, the dates of your trip, the address of your accommodation in Sri Lanka and the reason for your visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pay the ETA fees:<\/strong> The cost of the ETA varies according to the type of visa. Payment is generally made by credit card online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Receive your ETA by e-mail:<\/strong> Once your application has been approved, you will receive your ETA by e-mail. It is important to print this document and keep it with you during your journey.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Validity and duration of stay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The ETA for Sri Lanka is generally valid for one year. <strong>duration of 6 months<\/strong> from the date of issue.
