Yes, you can apply for an eVisa on the spot. However, it is advisable to apply for it online before departure to avoid queues or any other inconvenience on arrival.

⏱ When should I apply for an eVisa?

You must apply for an eVisa at least 3 days before your departure. If you are arriving a long way away, we will accept applications but will send you your eVisa when it becomes available.

🤔 How long can I stay in Sri Lanka with an eVisa?

As mentioned on our home page, the length of stay and validity vary depending on the type of eVisa requested. You can find details on our dedicated tab.

✈ī¸ From which ports of entry can I enter Sri Lanka with an e-visa?

The e-visa is valid for arrivals at the following three airports: Jaffna, Bandaranaike or Mattala Rajapaksa. 

â›ĩī¸ I'm doing a stopover/transit via Sri Lanka. Do I need an eVisa?

If your climb/transit lasts less than 2 days, you do not need to apply for an eVisa before you leave. Beyond this period, an eVisa valid for 4 days will be required. You will need to provide us with proof of reservation for your cruise or an onward ticket.

🛂 What documents do I need to present to immigration in Sri Lanka?

You will need your eVisa printed and/or on your smartphoneand your passportwhich must be valid for six months after your arrival. You may also be asked for your return ticket as well as a Proof that you have sufficient resources for the stay (certificate from your bank, bank statements, etc.).

🚸 Does the eVisa also apply to minors?

Yes, minors also need an eVisa.

🧒 Do I need to apply for an exit permit for my child?

If a minor leaves French territory without a legal guardian, he or she must be in possession of an AST (authorisation to leave the country). This document can be requested online, and must be completed by one of the holders of parental authority. When travelling, this form must be accompanied by a copy of the identity document of the legal guardian.

Beyond that moment, corrections can no longer be applied. We invite you to contact us for more information.

Once an eVisa has been issued, its details cannot be changed. You will need to submit a new application if your information differs significantly.
