Conditions for obtaining a Sri Lankan e-Visa

Also known as e-Visa, the electronic visa was introduced in 2024 by the Sri Lankan government to replace the ETA launched in 2012. Its purpose is to allow travellers to enter Sri Lanka for a tourist or business stay of less than 30, 60 or 90 days. It allows you up to one entry (30 days), two entries (60 days) or unlimited (90 days) into the country. Apply for an e-Visa for Sri Lanka before you travel. The procedure is purely electronic, but requires :

  • your passport, still valid at least 6 months after the date of entry into the country
  • your dates of stay
  • the reason for the trip
  • your bank card to pay the charges
  • a printer to print your authorisation

Minors must pay for their document as normal. The e-Visa cannot be extended. You will have to leave the country or apply for another visa.
